Wigan’s £135  million Fettlers redevelopment is reshaping the heart of the town centre.

Rising from the site of the former Galleries, the project will bring homes, a cinema, bowling alley, hotel, and a new market hall, all designed to make Wigan a place to live, work, and stay.

The name “Fettlers” nods to Wigan’s industrial heritage, a local term meaning to fix or make good and that’s exactly what this development promises: a vibrant, modern hub that reconnects people with the town’s creative and social energy. The first phase, the new Market Hall, is due to open later this year, with the Hampton by Hilton hotel following in 2027.

STACK Entertainment

A new chapter for Wigan nightlife is on the horizon as STACK prepares to open in the Grand Arcade.

The venue will combine street‑food stalls, live music, and social spaces under one roof a concept that’s already proven popular in Newcastle and Manchester.

The multi‑level site will feature independent traders, pop‑up bars, and a performance stage, creating a year‑round destination for food lovers and gig‑goers alike. Construction is well underway, with opening expected in early 2027.
