Chris Smith founded CSC2 with a straightforward idea. Make information security and ISO compliance simple for businesses who find it overwhelming. With 18 years in the industry, working across central government, the public sector and private organisations, he built CSC2 around honest, practical advice with no jargon and no box ticking.

In 2024 CSC2 were named Freelancer of the Year at the Wigan Business Awards. Rather than simply accepting the recognition, Chris took the decision to go back the following year as a sponsor of the very category he had won. It was that experience of being in the room, of meeting the right people at the right moment, that showed him what sponsorship could actually do for a small business.

The visibility, the conversations and the credibility that came from being associated with the awards opened doors that cold outreach never could. For CSC2 it was less about the logo placement and more about showing up for the borough that had shown up for them.
