Wigan Borough Armed Forces Day returns on Saturday 27th June 2026, bringing a full day of celebration, remembrance and community spirit to Wigan Town Centre. Running from 10:30am to 4:00pm, the event honours the borough’s Armed Forces community past, present and future, and invites residents to come together to show their support.
The day begins with a military parade, stepping off from Mesnes Park at 10:30am. The parade is always one of the most moving and visually striking parts of the event, featuring serving personnel, veterans, cadets, standard bearers and local organisations marching proudly through the town centre before arriving in Market Place (WN1 1PE) for the main celebrations.
Once the parade reaches Market Place, the town centre becomes a lively hub of activity. Visitors can enjoy a full programme of performances on the main stage, including military bands, local singers, community groups and special guests. The entertainment runs throughout the day, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere for families, veterans and visitors alike.
There will also be a variety of stalls, military displays and interactive activities, offering opportunities to learn more about the work of the Armed Forces and the organisations that support them. These displays often include cadet demonstrations, historical exhibits and information stands from local charities and community groups.
